The region of Kiambu is home to many of Kenya's largest and oldest coffee estates. Originally owned by a French company, the Mchana Estate is now locally owned with an extensive network of processing infrastructure. The estate provides free medical treatment and day care for all employees and their children, as well as a local school attended by many in the larger Ruiru community. As a local coffee resource, Mchana provides seedlings to local farmers from its on-site nursery, as well as livestock feed harvested from the non-coffee blocs on the property. The impressive effort put in my the Mchana Estate to tend to the local community on top of producing exceptional coffee does not go unnoticed.

We're so excited to be offering Mchana Estate as our first Kenyan coffee of 2021. Out of the cup, we taste a burst of sweet blackberry paired with distinctive lemony acidity. It has a certain tangy juiciness to it that is drawn out into a long, complex finish. We hope you enjoy!
